sneaky.

i've been 'breaking into' a nearby apartment complex's pool lately. it has been so nice to lay out and cool off in the water. i stay no longer than an hour; just enough time to get some rays, but short enough to where i can still work and tend to other things during the day. i feel sneaky, but figure that it's not really a big deal. a pregnant girl's gotta do what she can to keep cool, right? this summer is the hottest recorded summer ever in texas. i've really been surprised how much it hasn't bothered me. granted, i work inside and spend most of my time in air conditioning, but i do get out every morning for my walk and take marlow to swim most days. it's hot, but definitely not unbearable. i do enjoy going to the pool though.

the chronicles of carey: july 27th

2002
this morning was the battalion d&c competition. the renegades represented foxtrot company and they got first place...tomorrow is sunday and it will be nice to have a break from training. starting monday though, we will be getting busy with all of the tactical events. one more week until victory forge! 2 weeks until graduation. boy, am i ready to hit the road back to good 'ol anderson, indiana.

2003
i had a good time at drill this weekend. i should never get so apprehensive about drill weekends because they always turn out being okay. i leave feeling good about being in the army. it really is an opportunity in my life.

2004
chris scheduled his surgery today. it will be august 9th at 7:30am. the doctor will do it at home hospital. i'm going to stay with him all day. i love him and want to take care of him and do anything he needs me to. i pray, God, that you would allow this to heal his back completely and that he would experience no more pain ever again.

2005
i've really enjoyed cooking. at the end of every week, i create a menu for the next week, looking at what we already have, then dig through cookbooks for ideas. i love coming up with a variety of foods to eat. i only come up with 3-4 meals because we usually eat leftovers a couple of nights. i don't cook on sundays. we try to go out to eat or i let chris find his own food.

no different.

a skit: the first scene begins with a family who had adopted a 17-year old son after losing their teenage daughter to a drunk driver. they took the boy into their home and lavished their love on him. come to find out that the son they adopted is the drunk driver who killed their daughter. rather then allow him to be convicted and sent to prison, they rescued him and adopted him into their own family. they loved him as they loved their daughter. he was given a second chance. he was forgiven. he was redeemed.

the skit so powerfully made the obvious point that we are no different than the drunk driver in the skit. our sinful actions have caused the death of our father's beloved son. rather than suffer the penalty for our actions, he gave us another chance. further, the father adopts us into his family and lavishes his love upon us. we are redeemed.

i needed some spice in my life today.

clove, nutmeg, cardamom, ginger, allspice, and cinnamon. they don't just taste good. they're good for your health, too!
